MasterChef Star Turns Into a Killer: Horrific Moments Caught on Home Cam

In December 2021, police in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia received a call from a luxury condo at Lido Avenue. A couple had returned from vacation and claimed their live-in housekeeper was dead inside the home.

The woman who owned the home was Etika Norashikin, a former MasterChef Malaysia finalist who had become a admired public figure. She was educated, successful, and known online as a glamorous career woman, chef, wife, and mother.

Her husband, Muhammad Ambree, was also part of that polished image. Together, they appeared to live a comfortable family life inside one of the city's most exclusive residential buildings.

But inside that home was another woman whose life looked nothing like theirs. Her name was Nor Afiah Amin, a 28-year-old migrant worker from Indonesia who had come to Malaysia to earn money for her family.

The Woman Nobody Protected

Nor Afiah had left her child with relatives and worked abroad so she could send money home. In 2021, she became Etika's live-in domestic helper, caring for the household and children.

Within months, she was dead. Her husband later told investigators that he had not heard from her for a long time because her phone had been taken away after she entered the home.

The autopsy revealed severe long-term abuse. Her body showed burns, bruises, signs of infection, and injuries that could not be explained by illness.

Investigators concluded that she had suffered for weeks before dying from infection and sepsis caused by untreated wounds.

The Videos Inside The Home

The most disturbing evidence came from recordings made inside the apartment. They showed Nor Afiah being humiliated, threatened, and harmed while the couple treated her suffering like entertainment.

In one recording, hot water was poured onto her body while someone laughed and talked about how the video could go viral online.

After Nor Afiah died, investigators said the couple tried to clean the scene with bleach, left the home for a trip, and then reported the death as if they had only just discovered it.

But the physical evidence, the autopsy, and the videos made the truth impossible to hide.

One of the most shocking parts of the case was the contrast between Etika's public image and the reality inside her apartment. Online, she was celebrated as a talented chef, successful woman, and devoted mother.

Inside the home, prosecutors said she and her husband treated a vulnerable worker as someone they could control, isolate, and abuse.

Even after their arrest, the couple initially tried to frame the death as a medical emergency. But the evidence showed a pattern of deliberate cruelty that had continued over time.
